First Dolly Kei Coord:: Grimoire Astronomy Dress

Two ways I wore my Grimoire Astronomy Map dress

This was my first big purchase for J-Fashion, so I wanted to make sure I was happy with the dress in a full coord. This was also my first "official" dolly kei coord, but I almost felt like I could've fit in with the Grimoire staff! 

If you don't know what dolly kei is, I wrote a post a while back about it here.

I wore this to my university's j-fashion club meeting for International Lolita Day at a local British tea shop!

Grimoire Celestial Closet { UNBOXING } .。.:*・°☆

My dear ethereal astronauts,

About a month ago, I made my first purchase from Grimoire! Grimoire is a popular J-Fashion brand amongst dolly kei, cult party kei, and some mori wearers in Japan. However, their Verum tights are famous across a broader range of J-Fashion keis, especially with lolita. What I really love about their tights is that they're printed knowing that the design will be stretched. I feel like cheaper quality tights and OTKs don't do this, but the tights I bought from Grimoire didn't have a stretched design, even though my legs are fairly thick.

Besides tights, Grimoire mostly re-sells vintage clothing. Celestial Closet is their first original clothing line, and I was one of the first in line to pre-order the Astronomy Map dress and Brilliant Swan tights!

I'm SO happy with my purchases and pleasantly surprised about the high quality! The dress material is quite soft and is WAY better than the cheap F21 quality I've been conditioned to expect. I can't wait to buy from Grimoire again! I really wanted the necklace from the Celestial Closet line, but it was way more than I wanted to pay for a piece of jewelry..

I'm working on putting together a full coord for this dress and when I finish I'll make a better outfit video! I really want it to be fantasy-like and whimsical. Please look forward to that video sometime during November!

Mori Kei Sister Styles Series: Dolly Kei

Reminder that that these are my personal observations on each style and I do not claim that these are the definite definitions. Also this is coming from the perspective of a mori girl, so please keep that in mind as you enjoy this series. ^^

"Whimsical half-sister"

Key terms for dolly kei will be vintage, fairy tale, bohemian, folk, and "gypsy," (I really don't know if this word is offensive or not, I've heard conflicting arguments >< So if it is, I apologize!) depending on how you prefer to wear your dolly kei.

The great thing about dolly kei is that it's even more flexible than mori. More colors, more fabrics, more patterns, and more shapes and styles of dress. There really isn't a set color scheme, so long as it has the fairytale or vintage feel!

Dolly kei is also a fantastic way for someone transitioning to mori from classic lolita or even the opposite. Feel free to break out your corsets and petticoats! TIP: An easy way to make a dolly kei outfit is by crossing over mori and lolita.
